All about Psionics

A psion is a person who can create some kind of physical happening using their mind. This is often related to psychic powers, and many people who have psychic powers have some ability to use psionics.

Telekinesis is a good example of psionics. Someone who can do telekinesis can move an object with their mind.

Most people are highly skeptical of psionic abilities because there has yet to be verifiable proof of this occurring. This is one of the types of psychic ability which should be immediately verifiable, but it has not yet happened.

I agree with this anaylsis myself, and tend to doubt the majority of individuals who claim to have telekinetic abilities. Yes, I’m a skeptic too, and you should keep some reasonable amount of skepticism as well.

However, in keeping an open mind, I have asked a number of people who claim to have these psionic abilities about the nature of their powers. Most have responded with an intriguing answer: their psionic abilities are based in their emotion.

When they become emotionally charged over some kind of situation, then they are able to use psionics almost accidentally. One very interesting story a psion told me was that he had gotten in a fight in grammar school with another young child, and afterwards, he looked at him intensely and wished ill-will towards his enemy, and over his enemy’s head, a lightbulb exploded.

While he was young and unable to understand his power, he has noticed that it is difficult to predict a result from psionics, and it is very difficult to reproduce in a scientific setting.

It’s food for thought.

Different Psychic Powers

Just as we are all drawn naturally to our own different combination of favorite subjects in school, or our favorite cuisines and flavors, so to are we different in our abilities in terms of our paranormal powers. Some people are excellent clairvoyants, while others lack this ability entirely, working as telepaths, diviners, or dreamers.

These different psychic powers are apparent within us all, we simply need to take the time to recognize them.

Here is a brief list of different psychic powers which you may find in yourself:

Telepaths, or Empaths, can read other people’s minds.

Telekinetics can move or manipulate objects with their minds.

Diviners can use tools like I Ching Coins or Tarot Cards to tell the future.

Clairvoyants can see images, either of the present time or into the future.

Clairaudients hear voices or noises which deliver psychic messages.

Clairsentients can “feel” psychic messages, and receive messages based on their feelings.

Dreamers or Dreamwalkers receive psychic messages through their dreams.

Mediums can communicate with otherworldly spirits

Seidus can read “lifelines” and give you strong insight into what will happen in your life given a set of circumstances.

Empathic Psychic Abilities

Empathic psychic abilities, to me, are the most fascinating. These traits link one mind to another, or sometimes one mind to many others. Not only do they include sharing feelings and sensations, but they also include understanding how a person thinks, and why they think that way. As you see, there are many variations among type of empathic psychic abilities. Many uses can applied to such skills, from being able to better understand one’s co-workers, to aiding rescue attempts at disaster sites.

The workplace experience would be so much smoother and more enjoyable if we could only know when the person in the next cubicle is feeling stressed out. To be able to give the right encouraging word, or know that we wouldn’t be met with outright negativity when we tried to start a conversation is a priceless gift. Using empathic psychic abilities, this is as possible as knowing what color tie they are wearing today. This, alone, is a justifiable reason to spend some time understanding empathic psychic abilities, and how the work.

Much more valuable in empathic psychic abilities, is the aptitude for finding survivors after an earthquake, or pointing towards the location of missing people as soon as a tornado has ripped through the area. The inner turmoil of missing, lost, or runaway children makes them stand out like a beacon to those who have empathic psychic abilities, which makes their safe and timely rescue so much more possible. Floods, fires, and other natural disasters claim the lives of many people who could be saved if only more people recognized and made use of empathic psychic abilities, not mention how much sooner help could get to those who need it most after train or airplane incidents where there is much destruction to be examined.

If you have empathic psychic abilities, and perhaps as many as one in five people do, you owe it to yourself, your family, and the other residents in your neighborhood to explore them, and to expand on your natural talents. Even if you are never required to help out with major rescue operations, the peace of mind you’d gain from being in tune with all the people in your daily life make these mental traits well worth the time and practice involved.

There is a great deal to empathic psychic abilities which can be discussed, but needless to say, this is one of the most important types of psychic powers out there.

Types of Psychic Powers

There is not just one “way” to be psychic, there are many types of psychic powers that can present themselves to you during the course of your journey. Here is a short list of some of the most common types of psychic powers:

Diviners - These individuals have a gift for the ability to associate events and personal traits to common objects (like tarot cards, runes, I Ching Coins, etc), and identify what is likely to happen in a person’s life. A skill in divining is one of the most common types of psychic abilities, but that is not to say that they are any less gifted than anyone else.

Clairvoyant – A clairvoyant is a person who can “see” images of a far off place or time. These kinds of psychics tend to be reclusive or secretive about their skills because they would be considered loony by most of the world if it got out that they could see things others couldn’t. This is one of the rarest types of psychic abilities, and one that takes a great deal of time and training to nourish.

Clairaudient – A clairaudient is someone who can hear voices from a different place or time. This talent is similar to clairvoyancy, and is often shared by mediums and telepaths.

Medium – A medium talks to spirits, often with the help of a client, or a group of mediums who can help channel energy. These kinds of psychics often share a number of related skills, and have a vast storage of energy from which to draw, but are often unable to practice their art alone. If you find that you have premonitions of deceased individuals, it is likely that you have some skill in the art of mediumship.

Telepath – A telepath is someone who can read the mind of another individual. This is another relatively common psychic skill, though again, the depth to which you can train your mind to perform this task is wide and deep. I have personally met people with this type of psychic ability who could read the minds of specific individuals without them even being in the room, and can cause other psychics to have visions of them at any time or place. This is a powerful skill.

Dreamwalkers – Dreamwalkers are individuals who have the ability to receive messages through dreams. Often times, these types of psychics practice astral projection and lucid dreaming, giving them extra control over what happens to their spirit while they are asleep.

A Brief List of Psychic Abilities

There are hundreds, if not thousands of different kinds of known psychic abilities. I have done my best here to create a list of psychic abilities in terms of their commonality.

The most common psychic ability is divination. This is likely due to a large number of individuals who dabble in tarot cards and I Ching, but nonetheless, this is a psychic skill, and one that is widespread. It takes a great deal of intuition and knowledge of yourself and your tools to be able to connect the events of a human life to a deck of ancient cards. This is also one of the easiest psychic abilities to learn, and if you want to get started learning a particular system, check out the Library for my personal recommendations. Truly, this tops the list of psychic abilities for commonality, and for the ease of which you can learn a system. Most gifted diviners know more than one system.

The second most common on our list of psychic abilities is telepathy, or the ability to read minds. Non-believers often account telepathic incidents to their knowledge of a particular person, their own empathy, or a lucky guess, but they are likely experiencing an awakening of their inner power when these kinds of things occur. Since we all have some ability to empathize with our fellow human, this is definitely a common psychic ability, though learning to use it at will, and with people who you are not accustomed to can take a great deal of time and effort to learn.

Finally, there is dreamwalking, in which we receive and transmit messages through our dreams. There are many individuals who have experienced this on some level or another, particularly when stressed out about the death or injury of a loved one, and they dream about the incident, or have a dream where they speak with their relative and feel reassured. Interpreting the language of the subconscious is one key thing to learn, and in doing so, along with practice in arts like astral projection, you will be better able to hone in on particular things, and receive more and more psychic messages.

These three abilities top the list of psychic abilities, and are the most common among all people. Notice how they are all related to everyday things? Divination is about interpreting situations and reading between the lines, telepathy is about empathizing with another human being, and dreamwalking deals with the world of sleep. All of us interpret, empathize and dream!
