John Edwards – After Life
So I finally finished John Edward’s latest book After Life: Answers from the Other Side. It’s been on my to-do list for a while since I think this man has a fascinating ability and a wonderful TV show, but I just didn’t get around to it until now.
Overall, this was a decent book, but it doesn’t do too much for me since I felt like I had read everything before. This was basically the same book as his last, One Last Time, same cover, same format, same information, albeit with a few different examples. If you’ve read that one, you can probably skip this one entirely without missing too much, but there are two chapters which are particularly interesting.
The first is the chapter where Edward’s talks about his father. This is something that a lot of us were dying to read after having found out that the man was basically estranged from his father and his family because of their skepticism towards his abilities. I won’t reveal what John says about the book to keep those of you interested in the book with something to discover, but it is quite interesting.
I also really liked the chapters where John has discussions with some of the families from the 9/11 attack. Those were heart-warming and very well done.
The format of this book reads like a screenplay, so there’s little commentary. I think that had we gotten the opportunity for John to reflect on what he saw, we would have had a much better book. Being the star that he is, this was rushed to production, and the book, and his readers suffer because of it. What we learn in the book is nothing “new” per se, particularly from John’s other books, but it is a very touching story which confirms a great deal of our beliefs in life after death.
