When you are communicating with your spirit guides, how do you do it? Learning about the methods and procedures can tell you more about your strengths and weaknesses as a psychic, and it can give you a great deal of focus for further psychic and spiritual development.

The most common method of communicating with your spirit guide is through telepathic communication. You often see your spirit guide in your mind’s eye rather than your physical eyes, so it only makes sense that they would communicate telepathically rather than auditorally. Many people make the mistake of listening with the wrong ears, which leads them to difficulty.

To awaken your psychic ability to communicate telepathically with your spirit guide, you should practice making mental commentary to yourself about the things you see and do during your day. Becoming accustomed to listening with your inner ear can take practice.

Meditation, as discussed before, is also very important. If your thoughts are racing at a mile a minute, then how can your inner ear hear what is being said by your spirit guides?

Finding your spirit guide is incredibly important aspect of awakening psychic abilities. As I’ve mentioned in previous articles, your spirit guide is the spirit of a human ancestor who volunteered to help you in your life, and they are people who have “been there, done that” and who have found the answers to some of life’s greatest questions.

The ability to ask them about things which puzzle you, or to get advice on the things that they see going wrong in your life is an incredible asset to your personal development.

Some guides may even be willing to deliver or clarify psychic messages. They can be very helpful in terms of increasing psychic communication.

But the question that many ask is “how do you go about finding your spirit guides?” To some, they appear and reveal themselves naturally when they feel that you need them most, while others have to actively seek out their spirit guides before they can communicate with them.

The best method you can use to find your spirit guides is to simply to visit a state of meditation or even the astral planes if you can project, and ask for their help. Most people strongly believe that spirit guides are always with us, watching over us, and would likely come to you if you ask.

If this is not successful, then you should try finding a way to “prove” to them that you are truly interested in communicating with them. You may find that holding a one-sided conversation with yourself about the kinds of questions you wish to ask, or about why you feel that you need guidance might work as a method of convincing them to come out of hiding.

Another method of finding your spirit guides is to take a class with a person who specializes in communicating with spirit guides. I am actually enrolled in one of the classes from this organization about spirit guides, which has been very helpful to me.

Remember, just like psychic skills, it can take some time to develop your abilities in this to a sufficient state to be able to communicate with your guides whenever necessary. As with all things, practice makes perfect, and you will likely fail a few times before you find yourself succeeding. This is a quest which has some incredible payoff if you persevere and eventually end up finding your spirit guide.

Your spirit guide should be considered a friend, but they are so much more than that. Spirit guides are wise counselors and should be treated with a great deal of respect. I have heard of many cases where people who have long been in contact with their guides have lost contact for long periods of time because they had not followed proper etiquette and treated their guides with the respect they deserve.

In a course I recently signed up for about contacting spirit guides (see the second column about 2/3 of the way down the page), the teacher explains that spirit guides are most likely the spirits of those who have passed on who volunteered to help out the living. As such, they are people too, and they are prone to some aspects of human weakness. You wouldn’t be too happy if you were trying to help someone and they were completely non-responsive.

Always remember that when you are communicating with your spirit guide it should be done with a tone of respect and cognizance of the incredible opportunity available to you. Remember that the vast majority of people out there have never made contact with their spirit guides, and they are probably much the worse for it.
