What are the Rune stones?

The runes are an ancient method of divination from northern Europe which could date as early as the Roman Empire, preserved through ancient texts and poems which describe the meanings and correspondences of the characters.

The runes are markings, particularly, letters of the ancient Germanic alphabet, each of which corresponds to some particular aspect of life, such as “mankind”, “flow”, “stasis”, “justice” or “fertility”. These are over-simplified versions of the true meanings of the runes, which are steeped in historical and mythological meanings, but that gives you the basic idea.

Most runes are made with painted or carved stones, though in ancient times, they were always made with wood, particularly from fruit-bearing trees like Apple or Peach trees.

Here is an extremely basic guide to rune stone meanings. Where possible, I broke down the meaning to a single word or two. Remember, this is extremely elementary, and does not go into anywhere near sufficient enough depth to cover every, or even most potential meanings commonly associated with each symbol.

The f-rune is about exchange or a transfer of power

The u-rune is a symbol of power and virility

The th-rune is a symbol of balance

The a-rune means breath or knowledge

The r-rune is about rhythm

The k- or c-rune is about passion

The g-rune (it looks like the letter x) is about generosity

The w-rune (it looks like a “p”) is about joy

The h-rune is the rune of loss

The n-rune is about necessity

The i-rune is about stasis

The j-rune is about topics like justice and says “you reap what you sow”

The p-rune is a rune of chance and mystery

The ei-rune is a rune of self-transformation

The z rune is a symbol of protection

The s-rune is a symbol of reliability and good health

The t-rune is a symbol of confidence and victory

The b-rune is the rune of new beginnings

The e-rune is a symbol of teamwork

The m-rune is the sign of mankind

The l-rune is about flow, or the sharing of knowledge

The ing-rune is the sign of fertility (particularly related to males – it’s named after the god Freyr or Ing)

The d-rune is a signal that destruction will bring new, or unintended consequences

The o-rune is a symbol of heritage and the past.

Scrying for Beginners

In my article on making use of scrying, I talked a little bit about how to create a scrying mirror and some basics for developing your abilities in this method of divination. Many readers wrote in to say that they did not have a lot of success with scrying, and that they needed some more information on scrying for beginners. So, here you go:

It should be mentioned right of the top that scrying is not often recommended for beginners who are just starting off with developing psychic abilities. Seeing the images and figuring out what they mean is usually quite difficult. I mention this type of divination in part because it is incredibly popular, and also because it is one of the most powerful types of divination, drawing on your intuition and your visualization skills more than your ability to interpret a pre-defined message.

As such, you should not be discouraged if you find scrying for beginners to be incredibly difficult. It is.

There are many things you can do to increase your ability to find images and meanings from the mirror, however.

Since you can’t develop meaning if you have no images to work with, the number one thing you need to do is to develop your visualization skills. An easy exercise for this is to sit facing a plain white wall and to trace letters of the alphabet in the air with your finger. When doing this, try to visualize a slice of blue or red light wherever the letters were drawn. If you can develop your ability to see this, even after closing your eyes for a few moments and even after turning away and coming back, then you will have more success with scrying.

In doing this, you’re working with developing your mind’s eye, which is, of course, a very important part of your ability to visualize.

Note: if you’re signed up for my newsletter, you’ve got a good head start on some other exercises. Good choice.

What is Scrying?

Scrying is the art of being able to use a mirror or some other reflective surface to see into the spirit realms. Many people make use of scrying as their preferred method of divination, and it is often considered to be the second or third most used divination tool after tarot cards and possibly pendulums.

In order to make use of scrying, you must first construct a scrying mirror. While it is possible to use a regular mirror, the majority of professional scryers tend to use something which will blur reality a little more so that they can see the spirit realm more clearly.

The most common method of making a scrying mirror is to take a handheld cosmetic mirror and paint it black (use glass paint for making stained glass, not regular paint). You could also take a surface of glass and place it on a very thin layer of water (and you can color the water as well). Sealing this kind of mirror creates a very viscous surface which is very conducive to allowing you to see many different things which you may not be able to see with a regular mirror, though it is difficult to create.

When your mirror is created, then you can start using it. It is best to sit in a dark room dimly lit either from a distant lamp or with candles nearby to the surface. Defocus your eyes, and stare into the mirror. After a little time, you should see some movement or some images in the surface which you can make out. By focusing your attention on them, they may become clearer.

From these images, you should get some indication of the message you are supposed to be receiving.

If you get nothing, try performing a reading with a specific question or situation in mind. Also remember that it is difficult to hit a home run the first time you ever play baseball, and that as with all things, practice and patience will increase your ability to do this kind of reading.

How to Increase Psychic Communication

Looking back on my post about why psychics don’t win the lottery, I feel compelled to continue by talking about how to increase psychic communication.

After all, I am a firm believer in the fact that most real psychics cannot summon their powers on demand. I would venture to say that you must be an incredibly powerful psychic in order to do so, and even that the majority of professional readers in the world have become at least a little disillusioned by the true nature of their powers.

Every reputable psychic who I’ve come to trust and talk with on a regular basis agrees on one thing: the most powerful psychic predictions are not “made”, they simply come to you out of the blue, about something which you might not have even considered or thought about before in your life. This is called psychic communication: the act of receiving some kind of premonition without having asked or thought about it ever before. These psychic communications are like a psychic memo from the world, and are a natural part of your being, and you cannot control them.

For example: My first major psychic premonition occurred when I was about 17 years old. I was sitting in my kitchen after dinner, and I was working on my homework when I suddenly felt a certain amount of distress over nothing at all. I calmly closed my eyes and entered a state of openness as I had learned from a book I read on the subject and I had a mental image of a street corner about half a mile away from my house.

I jumped up and ran out the door and headed over to that corner, when I noticed a drunk driver careening down the road, and his car swerved funny, hitting a light post on the corner, hard, knocking him unconscious. Nobody else was around, except for me. I called the police, and they came to take him to the hospital to treat his wounds. Fortunately for me, nobody asked me how I knew that he was going to be there, and why I was out so late at night wandering around my town.

As should be obvious, this is not an everyday kind of psychic premonition, however, it was a very powerful one, and very lucky for the driver of the car that I was able to determine what I should do with it. Many students of psychic powers ask me after hearing this story: what can I do to increase psychic communication? Considering examples like this, the more profound predictions we can make, the better off we will be as a species.

Unfortunately, in my years of study, I have yet to find a single viable method which shows how to increase psychic communication of this kind. It is very likely that these kinds of predictions are sent out to everyone, and that only a few people know enough about the subject and their own intuition to act on them in time.

So what can you do? I feel like learning how to increase psychic communication is best done through learning to develop your native psychic abilities and your ability to interpret them correctly. This is essential to all psychic development, and an integral part in learning how to increase psychic communication.

After all, I was young, and the only message I got was an image of a street corner. I didn’t know exactly what was going to happen, and that message could have been interpreted in a number of different ways (for instance, I could have interpreted the area as a zone of danger, with the message of “stay away from there”).

Hopefully, this gives you a little guidance.

Why don’t psychics win the lottery?

By far one of the most common questions from people who are skeptical about the existence of psychic powers is the simple question: why don’t more psychics use their powers to win the lottery?

After all, money is always a good motivator, isn’t it? Fair enough…let’s consider the lottery as a fair test of psychic skills.

The odds of winning the lottery are dependant on a lot of things, but what people are most after is the jackpot. I used this tool to determine that the chance of winning my state lottery’s jackpot was 1 in 8,259,888 (65 balls, you have to choose 5 correct for the jackpot). Now, for a normal person who picks just regular everyday numbers, this is a very low chance.

However, lets say for the sake of argument, that you’re a psychic who knows that two particular numbers are going to come up in tonight’s lottery. So calculating those odds, you now have 63 balls, and you need to pick three correctly. The odds for that are 1 in 39,700. Still not very good, and you already knew 2/5ths of the numbers that were going to come up!

Maybe you’ve got a really strong intuition that you know about 3 of the numbers which would appear in tonight’s lottery. In this case, there is a one in 1,891 chance that you’ll win. It’s still not very good, but it might be worth playing.

But all in all, is there still a good, solid chance, that even knowing 3 of the numbers that will come up in the lottery that you’ll win? Not really.

And we’ve assumed that the psychic is correct in their prediction. We’re all human aren’t we?

What people don’t understand about psychic powers is that there is rarely a solid, 100% answer to any question. You get impressions, you feel certain about some things, but you can never be 100% certain about something until it happens. Yes, I would venture to say that you should never bet the bankroll on your predictions, even that super-strong prediction you had just the other day.

It’s always healthy to have a little skepticism, even when we’re promoting the idea that psychic powers exist within everyone.

The advantage to developing psychic powers is to get a solid base of intuition. Learn to trust yourself, and in particular, learn to trust your emotions about things which you shouldn’t have a right to know.

Yes, I do believe that you can receive messages from “out there” and that communicating with spirits and using your connections to your soul energy can provide you some answers to life’s toughest questions. Learning to trust and interpret these signs is an incredible ability which we can all develop.

But going back to the main question, is it fair to use a randomized system like the lottery as a way to test psychic skills? No. Even if you are able to correctly predict 60% of the numbers, you will still have almost no chance of doing well on a psychic skills test like this.
